COVID-19 FAQ

General Questions

Yes, there will be someone available to answer your questions and concerns. We prefer that you send your questions via email. We are checking phone messages but due to staff shortages we are not able to answer the phone consistently.

We are constantly educating ourselves as to the COVID-19 situation. In addition we work closely with the BC Camping Association to ensure that any programs we decide to run in the future are safe and follow the latest guidelines.

There are 3 important ways you can help us:

  1. With a 60 buildings spread over a 100 acre facility Stillwood’s base operating costs are significant. With the inability to bring in our normal revenue we need significant help from our generous donors.
  2. Volunteering: If you have some extra time, when health regulations permit Stillwood will need volunteers to help maintain our facility.
  3. Prayer. We covet your prayers, please remember Stillwood during this pandemic.

Summer Camp

Our regular programs for the 2020 summer have been canceled. We are hopeful to be able to do alternate programming this summer. Some of those programs are:

We certainly hope so. While nothing is guaranteed we will work very hard to return to our overnight camp programs in 2021.

Because we are unsure what our summer programs will look like we are unable to forward summer camp payments to 2021.

While we are fully expecting to have a summer camp program in 2021, we are still uncertain what this might look like. We are uncertain how the pandemic will effect our 2021 season and therefore will not be able to forward your registration payment to 2021.

No, we have canceled all post dated payments. They were not process nor will they be processed in the future.

Yes, we will refund 100% of your refund. However, we are asking those who are able to donate all or a portion of your registration back to Stillwood.

Stillwood is spread over 100 acres and over 60 buildings, even though we have reduced expenses as far as we possibly can we still have maintenance,  utilities, insurance, fire and alarm services, taxes, legal, and accounting expenses. These expenses total about $50,000 every month not including any staff salaries. If you have the means to donate we would greatly appreciate the support.

Refunds and Donations

All refunds must be sent with an interac bank transfer. Our payment processor and bank has limits on processing that makes other refund options impossible. To receive an interac transfer you will need to have online access to your bank account.

Please email info@stillwood.ca if you have question or concerns related to the refund process.

Because of bank limits and our limited staff and volunteers refunding hundreds of camp registrations will take a long time. We anticipate that completing all our refunds will take 4-6 weeks.

At Stillwood (and most other summer camps) we reduce the actual cost of our summer program, subsidizing these programs by at least 50%. The actual cost for 1 week of summer camp is $1000+ per child. Our subsidy comes from our conference centre operations. When the COVID-19 restrictions came into effect, our revenue reduced to $0.  As a non-profit, CRA regulations prevent Stillwood from having any savings for an emergency like this. Financially we break even only through the generosity of our donors. That is why in mid-March Stillwood laid off our employees, and have taken care to reduce all of our expenses. Still yet we have significant expenses. These essential costs include maintenance for our 100 acre property, fire/alarm monitoring, insurance, taxes, utilities, legal & accounting costs.

Furthermore we are passionate about our amazing programs. Without conference centre revenues we are asking donors to continue to support their camp to enable these amazing programs to return as soon as health regulations allow.

Yes, all donations will receive a charitable receipt before next years tax season.

Guest Groups

All guest groups through until August 2020 have been canceled. As safety restrictions are lowered some smaller events like weddings, day camps and individual cabin rentals may return.

We are hoping that we can host your event in the near future. If your event needs to be canceled we will allow your deposit to be put towards a future visit to Stillwood.

Yes, we are constantly educating ourselves on the latest situations regarding the current pandemic. As restrictions relax we can host your group so long as it is within the BC health ministries COVID-19 guidelines.
